When Julian told me on Thursday that I wasn't to come home until 5pm, I was a little suspicious. But my first thought was that perhaps he had hired a cleaning service to surprise me. It was the only thing I could think of that would require me to be out of the house.

When I got home, I saw a note on the door asking me to ring. Julian ran down the stairs, looking very well-dressed. I saw rose petals strewn all over the stairs, but I still wasn't sure what was going on. He made me close my eyes and asked me if I smelled anything. The first thing I said was "it smells clean!" Then I noticed a delicious chocolate scent too. I opened my eyes and there were a dozen roses, a plate of brownies and a beautiful little box with a present for me inside. I've always thought I would cry, but I didn't... I was truly in shock, but at least I remembered to say YES!
